We need 1,500+ signatures to trigger a formal hearing. We’re currently on 780—if we don’t reach 1,500, developers and planning bodies effectively get a free run.
On your behalf, we’re objecting to an underfunded, unfit-for-purpose planning process where multiple large-scale applications are assessed largely in isolation. There is no single body responsible for assessing the combined (cumulative) impacts—on traffic, public and utility services, schools, healthcare, the environment, communities, wellbeing, landscapes, and historic sites.
North Oxfordshire is a clear example of the damage this causes—and it’s a nationwide problem.
Right now, five mega-developments within a 4-mile radius are close to approval. Together, they could overwhelm the area—potentially adding 45+ million vehicle movements a year and 50,000 more people.
This petition calls for a simple, common-sense fix: stop making decisions in silos, and require a proper assessment of the cumulative impacts when multiple major developments are proposed in the same region—an issue that could affect communities across the UK, including places targeted for new towns.
